Lejonet (The lion)
The lion is sometimes known as the King of Beasts and has always been mythical. The male and the female have both been ascribed attributes such as courageous, noble, strong and skilled hunters. In his book Farligt storvilt (dangerous big game, 1959), Bengt Berg wrote that one of the lion’s greatest tasks has long been to embellish different countries’ national coats of arms, as a symbol of courage and strength. A male lion with a big, strong mane looks impressive.
